Chieko Arai
Chieko Arai (violin) was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan. In 2010, at the age of sixteen, she came to the UK and studied for her A-Levels at Queen Margaret’s School York, as a Music Scholar and received violin tuition from Vince Parsonage and David Greed (the leader of Opera North). Since 2012, she has been studying at the Royal Academy of Music with a full scholarship as an undergraduate, under the tutelage of Maureen Smith.
The highlights of her public appearance as a soloist include a performance of the Lark Ascending (2012), a solo recital at Salvia Hall, Yokohama Japan (2015) in addition to solo performances inside and outside the Academy. She now looks forward to giving her first recital at St James Piccadilly in London on 31st October 2016. From September 2016, she will return to the Academy to continue her studies with a Master’s degree, with a scholarship awarded by the Academy.
