Kaya Kuwabara
Kaya Kuwabara was born in Tokyo, Japan, where she studied with Takashi Shimizu and Takashi Nagamine, at the Music High School attached to the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and later with Seiji Kageyama at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. She received regular chamber music coaching from prominent Japanese players including Katsuya Matsubara and Quartetto Classico, and she has performed with her string quartet in numerous venues.
Kaya is currently in the fourth year of a BMus programme at the RCM, studying violin with Radu Blidar, and was supported by the general scholarship fund in 2009–10. She plays a violin by J.B. Vuillaume, which is kindly on loan from the RCM.
