Yuhka Nagai

The International Japanese Violinist; Yuhka Nagai graduated in 2014 from the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she studied with Professor. Mayumi Fujikawa and completed an MA in Performance and Diploma LRAM (Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music). Yuhka also has BMus and MA degrees from Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo, Japan and later obtained a teaching qualification and worked as a music teacher at a local and high school.. She also worked at several music schools as a violin teacher while she was a masters student. At the same time, Yuhka was selected to play in Musashino Academia Symphony Orchestra as leader for 3 years, between 2007 and 2010.

In addition, she has played in variety of chamber music ensembles in Duo, Piano trio and Piano quartet configurations. As a violinist with the Piano Quartet “Blüte” she won third prize in the 1st Memorial Tokyo Art Centre Chamber Music competition and later this ensemble’s recital was sponsored by the Tokyo Art Centre. In April 2014 she participated in the Croydon Violin Competition as part of the Croydon Performing Arts Festival, where she was awarded a Certificate of Outstanding for her performance of the Glazunov Violin Concerto. She regularly teaches students and is passionate and enthusiastic in her approach, accumulating performance and experience here in the UK.

In summer 2014 she performed two lunch time concerts. The first one was at the Leatherhead Methodist Church in Leatherhead as a 2nd performance and the other one was at the All Saint’s Church in High Wycombe. Yuhka is devoted to playing music, focusing on the relation between her heart, mind and body and keen to introduce Japanese composer’s like;, Hikaru Hayashi to a wider UK audiences. Yuhka is currently researching different approaches to improve her musical performance using mental training techniques with Dr. Shuichi Tsuji

In 2014/2015 she continues with her studies with Professor. Mayumi Fujikawa at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London as a Violet Wright Scholar.She has been borrowing the violin, Ceruti from her school.
