Lisa Izumi (violin) and Tadashi Imai (piano)

Our first concert of the year is at St. Martins and features Lisa Izumi on violin, accompanied by Tadashi Imai on piano.

Lisa Izumi

Lisa Izumi (violin)

Born in London and started the violin at the age of four. Enters Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls at five and is awarded the Music Scholarship in the senior school. Enters Junior Royal Academy of Music and wins the Violin Prizes. Wins top prizes in the North London Music Festival and is awarded a prize from the Musicians Benevolent Fund. Wins 1st prize in the Yokosuka Music Competition, elementary section. She was invited by Prof. Takashi Shimizu to study more intensively and decides to move to Japan in 2000 with her mother. Wins 2nd prize in the All Japan Student Competition in 2001, the top prize in the All Japan Classic Violin Competition in High School Division in 2002 and other prestigious national competitions. Enters Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music High School and is currently in her 3rd year of the University.

She is currently taking a gap year to study in London with Prof. R. Azoitei.of Royal Academy of Music. She has had lessons with Y. Neaman, G. Poulet, M. Mintchev and masterclasses with Z. Bron, E. Schmieder.This is Lisa’s first recital for the society.

Tadashi Imai

Tadashi Imai (piano) has ably supported featured musicians a number of times for society concerts. He has appeared with the Osaka Symphoniker playing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra playing Tchaikovsky’s Concerto No.1 and performed at Carnegie Hall’s Wiell Recital Hall. Tadashi is a graduate of Toho Gakuen College of Music and of Texas Christian University.

Following a number of prestigious awards at the RAM he is currently an associate student at the RAM studying piano with Christopher Elton and chamber music with Michael Dussek.
