Tony Yates and Brian Benedict

Wed Jan 28th 2009, 1:15–2:00 pm ◀ This event has finished
St Dunstan-in-the-West, 186a Fleet St, London, EC4A 2HR

Tony Yates

Tony Yates has performed as soloist with the Royal Opera House Garden Venture at Dartington Hall, singing specially composed works for music theatre. At the Purcell Room and on tour he sang in Blood Wedding by Karen Wimhurst and the Missa del Cid by Judith Weir for Vocem Electric Voice Theatre. Chorus work includes a tour of Puccini's Turandot with Lakeland Opera and Donizetti's Ana Bolena for Tower of London Festival Opera. Tony was soloist and ensemble singer in a programme of Bach Cantatas in Umbria and Rome. At St John's Smith Square he has performed works by Quilter, Purcell and Mozart in a recital with Della Jones. Solo recitals include lunchtime performances of Reynaldo Hahn's Chansons Grises and Schumann Liederkreis Op 39 with Brian Benedict at St Magnus the Martyr and an evening of songs and duets with Magda Kozyra at Lauderdale House, Highgate.

Brian Benedict

Brian Benedict is a well-known chamber pianist and accompanist (although he dislikes the word!). As soloist he has toured the USA, South Africa, Brazil and South America. He regularly toured Europe, performing at many of the major festivals. He has played with many of the leading orchestras in this country and abroad. Recently, Brian has devoted the majority of his time to chamber music, Lieder recitals and recording. He is a founder member and Chef-de-Chant of L'Opera de Chambre de France en Residence de Menton. His discography includes Arabesque(solo recital CD), Der Doppelganger (centenary recital of Schubert songs with Paul Van Gastel) and The Pathways of Love (Songs in French, German, Russian, Italian and English with Hannah Francis). Future plans include two solo recital CDs (Nocturne and Whispers of Russia) and a recital of Mediterranean songs and piano music at The Hellenic Centre with Eleni Katerini.
