Artist info

Shuenda Wong

Malaysian pianist Shuenda Wong was 1st prize winner in the Oxford Music Festival 2010, the 2008 HSBC National Piano Competition, and the 2007 Malaysian Youth Music Festival 2007. He has also won top prizes at the Concours International de Piano de Lagny-sur-Marne in France (2010), the Royal Overseas League Music Piano Competition and Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition in the UK (2009), the 1st Thailand International Piano Competition (2008), the Enschede International Piano Competition for Young Musicians in the Netherlands (2004), the Arthur Lepthien International Piano Competition in Germany (2005), and at national piano competitions in 2000 and 2001.

Shuenda has given concerts in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, China, Japan, Brunei, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and the UK. Notable performances include concerts at the Kaisersaal Freiburg, Elzacher Stadthalle in Germany, Bunkamura hall in Japan, Kasteel Terworm in Holland, collaborations with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and Kuala Lumpur Sinfonietta, Opening of the British Commonwealth Games, the Asian Pacific Cooperation Meeting and The Philippines Centennial Independence in Manila.

He was also recently nominated for best outstanding solo performance at the Malaysian BOH Cameronian Arts Awards. Since his arrival in the UK, he has been invited to perform in various venues around the country including St Martin in the fields, St James Piccadilly, the Barbican Hall London, Purcell Room Southbank Centre, ROSL House Edinburg, Princess Alexandra Hall London, and the Erin Arts Centre on the Isle of Man. Shuenda is a Recommended Artist under Making Music's Philip & Dorothy Green Award scheme 2010, and was awarded Making Music's Raymond Fox Bursary for Instrumentalists.
