Catherine Nardiello

Catherine Nardiello was born in Middletown, Ohio and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Towson State University in Baltimore, Milan, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Some of her professors included Reynaldo Reyes, Jackie Silver and Rosetta Ely.

Miss Nardiello came to Europe in 1986 and has performed in the U.S.A., Denmark, England, the Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Switzerland and Wales. She is active in Europe as a freelance pianist, soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist. She records twice per year on a Steinway “D” Grand at Hungaroton Records in Budapest, Hungary.

Her specialities are American piano music, women composers and contemporary music. She gives lectures and concerts on both topics as a visiting artist in addition to masterclasses. These can be given in Italian and English or with simultaneous translation. For radio, she has done both live and pre-recorded programme on Radio NOS and AVRO Radio in the Netherlands, Word Radio Geneva, Greenland Radio, BBC Radio Newcastle and Carlisle, Radio Ticino, Radio 3, Radio Stella, Loch Broom Radio, Manx Radio, Tee Radio, RTSI Radio and Oban Radio.

In December 2009, she gave a Christmas concert which was partially broadcast on RTSI Television on Channel I. This was her first performance on any national television station.

She has had pieces written for her by American and European composers. In the past, she gave the world première of Jane Serter's Escape from the Earth, which was commissioned especially for the artist. At the New Wind Festival in November 2004, she gave world premières of works by Antionette Kirkwood and Jane Serter In Oban, Scotland, she gave the first performance of Jane Serter's Slow to Still in 2005. In the same year, she gave the first performance of David Ward's Variations on a Waltz at the New Wind Festival. In 2006 she premièred works by Jean Roditi, Susie Self and Jane Serter at the same festival.

In addition, she gives concerts for children and their families at Montessori, Waldorf, and Rudolph Steiner Schools. Her repertoire spans from classical music to the present day and onward to Christmas music. She also works as a soloist with symphonic bands and has been a guest artist with the Lignornetto and Morbio Inferiore Bands in Switzerland. In 2002, she was a guest soloist with the Linden Wind Ensemble in Surbiton, England. She made her orchestral début with the Lambeth Orchestra in 1999.

Miss Nardiello performs in luxury hotels, concert halls, schools, kindergartens, nursery schools, theatres, embassies, castles, luncheon concert series, universities, museums, and festivals. She has performed in the New Wind Festival, the Dundee Women's Festival, the Chard Festival, the Ascona Street Artists Off Festival and Estival in Estavayer-le-Lac.

She has been a guest soloist with groups such as the Kolping Singers, the City of London Chamber Choir and Group Krambambulli of Switzerland.

Some other venues where she has performed are the Warehouse Theatre in Ilminster, the Corran Theatre in Oban, and the Rudolph Steiner House in London.

The church of St. Dunstan in the West dates back to circa 1070 AD, and the present building was completed in the early 19th century.
