Wolfe String Trio

Edward McCullagh – violin, Alison d’Souza – viola, Raphael Lang – cello

The Wolfe String was formed by students at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2008, where they have performed at a selection of venues around London, including the Royal Academy, the Wallace Collection, and St. Thomas’ Hospital as part of the Hospital’s Arts events concert series. They regularly receive coaching from Martin Outram, violist of the Maggini String Quartet, and were invited to participate in the quartet’s festival last year at Wellington College.

They perform a varied repertoire, including more traditional divertimenti and trios by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, as well as modern and adventurous works including Ernst von Dohnányi’s Serenade and the String Trio by Schnittke. Future engagements include concerts in France, native country of cellist Raphael Lang, as well as a planned series of concerts in St. Alfege Church, Greenwich, associated with Trinity College of Music.

Individually the trio are experienced chamber musicians, attending Pro Corda, Lake District Summer Music Course, and have received coaching and performed in Masterclasses with members of the Allegri, Chillingirian, Endellion, Kuss, Wihan and RTE Vanbrugh Quartets. They have performed at Leeds International Music Festival, Cambridge Summer Music Festival, Conway Hall, Jubilee Hall Aldeburgh, Aldeburgh Parish Church, as well as the Purcell Room, London.
