Artist info

Kanako Wakatsuki

As a soloist, chamber musician, and a dedicated teacher, Kanako Wakatsuki is actively performing and teaching both in Japan and UK. Her repertoire covers a wide range and her recent recitals include magnificent programmes such as Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky, Kerisleriana by Schumann, and the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach. She was a successful participant in the International J.S. Bach Competition in Leipzig in 2006, and continues to take part in music festivals, public and private concerts.

Having studied at Toho Gakuen School of Music, Tokyo, and the Royal College of Music, London, her musical achievement was led by Masako Matsuda, Nobuyoshi Kato, the late Yonty Solomon, and Andrew Ball. She has also participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as John Lill, Sergey Dorensky, and Karl-Heinz Kammerling, and has studied chamber music with Koichiro Harada (violin), Julian Jacobson (piano), Ruth Nye (piano), Itzak Rashkovsky (violin), Richard Deakin (violin) and Louise Hopkins (cello).

In recent years Kanako has kept busy as a teacher, and she currently she holds the position of visiting piano teacher at Connaught House School, London. She also regularly accompanies young talented musicians in exams, auditions, and concerts and enjoys sharing her passion for music with them.
