Albany Piano Trio

Founded in 2010, the Albany Piano Trio is already beginning to establish itself as an exciting new ensemble on the UK music scene. The Trio has performed in the Brighton Fringe Festival at the Chapel Royal, and at London venues including St. James’s Piccadilly, the National Gallery, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Other engagements include recitals at Winchester Cathedral, Aldeburgh Parish Church, and for the Harrison Sisters’ Players series.

Gemma and Verity have played together since meeting as undergraduate students at Oxford University in 2004, and were joined by Pippa in 2011. In the summer of 2011 the Albany Piano Trio attended the Pro Corda ‘Musical Encounters’ course, where they studied with the Endellion String Quartet, and Dartington International Summer School where they received a scholarship to work with Ian Brown, Lowri Blake and Alexander Janiczek. They are also part of the Chamber Studio scheme at King’s Place where they have studied with Levon Chilingirian, Simon Rowland-Jones and Susan Tomes. This year the trio were selected for Live Music Now, which will lead to concerts throughout the UK.

The Albany Piano Trio has a particular interest in programming works by female composers, both celebrated and lesser-known, alongside the classic cornerstones of the piano trio repertoire. All future engagements, contact details and more information about the Albany Piano Trio can be found at http://www.albanypianotrio.com/.

The Albany Piano Trio is generously supported by Francis and Caron Fernandes.

St Paul’s Church dates back the 1630s, and was the first entirely new church to be built in London since the reformation. It is widely known as the Actors’ Church due to its long-standing connections with local theatres, including the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane and the Covent Garden Theatre (now the Royal Opera House). In Samuel Pepys’ diary, the church is mentioned as the venue of London’s first ever Punch and Judy show.
